Default Banco Popular

I have heard from two different sources that Banco Popular is now having problems. These are the same sources that warned me about Baninter and Bancredito.

It seems the rumours started when tellers and merchants noticed that they are now increasingly dipping into funds from different branches as they do not have funds in their reserves at headquarters.

Anybody else hear anything?

I heard that they were just bailed out quietly to the tune of 150 million US.

The owner, Grullon, is a big-time PRD person, so I'm sure the current administration would not let it fail. Banco Popular has been one of the better managed banks but I'm sure it is suffering from the recession, like all banks.
