My friend is part of an international Adult film distribution network, he is simply interested in knowing if there are any opportunities to establish shop in the DR. I am not sure he wants to put together a mom and pop operation, nor does he want to go under the radar. He wants to film high quality, LA type porn in The Dominican.
Off course, since he seems very successful, I am sure he would be quite generous with any one who can assist him in doing so .

Why would this business be any different from any other one? What makes it easier to be extorted then lets say a grocerie store?

it may be a silly answer,but has he thought about inquiring at the dominican embassy or consulate,in the states im guessing your from.
sure they can fill him in on the legalaties.
he can get something in writing from them with the stipulations of the law as they exist here producing such films.
then he has something solid-official to fall back on in the event of someone or somebodys trying to scam or screw him over while he is going about a legit buisness here?

On the surface it sounds like sound advise, but we are not talking about a sound country, so those type of logical steps do not apply.

Do you remember what happened to the guy that posted the pics of girls from Santiago about a year ago? He was legal (Riccos World), had all the docs etc. What about the girls?

Do you remember what happened to a group of the hotels in Boca Chica about 5-6 years ago that had their names mentioned on a site that showed naked Dominican girls? They had 24hrs to remove the site that they didn't even know existed or Turismo would shut them down. Has anyone ever seen the site owner again?

Look, this is still a very catholic country (80%), despite the image of hot sexy woman, cabanas etc etc. When it comes to stuff that steps on the churches toes, you will not have a leg to stand on. You will be taking to the cleaners, regardless of your piece of paper from the USA Dominican Embassy.

Rules and laws do not apply here. It comes down to interpretation and how much money do you have. If you have a problem, I guarantee not one lawyer in this country will touch you, because they wouldn't be able to deal with the stigma of representing a pornographer. Yes, you will find that most Dominicans find pornography disgusting and very closed minded towards it.

But hey, tell your buddy to go right ahead, I'll get the popcorn ready for a great show. He might even make the front page of DR1

Three or four months ago I approached the owner of the beauty salon in BC just outside the entrance of La Hamaca (he also owns the cigar store). I told him I would like to use his salon for a photo shoot I was doing on Dominican hair care. Looked at me like I was going to rob the place. Asked me forty or fifty questions. Told him I would pay a client's price for the shoot and would pay the stylists. He said-I don't think so but meet me tomorrow at the cigar store and give me more evidence this is not a something that I could use in a porn film!

I go back the next day with my laptop and show him other aspects of my web site which is strickly for women, women's products etc. He jecks me around for about a half hour and then tells me about this episode that Robert talks about and how he runs the risk of being used in a porn film AND the husbands of his operators in the shop if they got wind of this would kill him.

I guess the solution is find your Dominican adult stars. Get them all passports. Rent a secluded beach villa on Turks and Caicos. Round trip ticket is under $300USD per participant. 2 or 3 scenes per actor. He could do a film a weekend.
