he can get something in writing from them with the stipulations of the law as they exist here producing such films.
then he has something solid-official to fall back on in the event of someone or somebodys trying to scam or screw him over while he is going about a legit buisness here?
no harm in asking,eh?
You know what Dominicans will do with his "permits", his "something in writing", his "something solid"?:

They would wipe their axxes with it!!. Then they will make life a living hell for him, take all his money, beat the hell out of him and them send him packing!. All all that while smiling!!.

Just because the DR is a 3rd world country doesn't mean that any "Joe" can come and do whatever he pleases. PLEASE let him try it!.

Keep on thinking the DR is NOT a different monster!!.

if all this wiping of ass´s with official papers and kicking of ass´too is going to happen to this man.
how and why are street vendors of DVD films allowed to sell OPENLY on the street porn movies with nothing being done or said by the cops or the oh so conservative run of the mill dominican?
i have in my possesion a video called GIRLS OF BOCA CHICA. i bought it on the street in cabarete.it is pretty good quality and WAS shot in boca chica,i know i lived there once.
would you like me to give you the name and his usual points where he sells these videos so you and some other broad minded pious guys can kick one of your fellow country mans ass´s and stick all his videos up his back side.
my hunch is NO you dont.
IMO dominicans have no problems doing any kind of buisness once it is them making the money, but that dirty great chip on the shoulder raises its head with a nbr of dominicans when it is a foreigner with the idea and the skills to make some cash.
so spare me the false indignation, please, and clean up and kick ass with yer own guys who can sell film what they wish.

So what you are saying is --it's only ok if Dominicans exploit Dominican(a)s. If foreigners---gringos-- exploit Dominican(a)s that's unexceptable.--

Default What is the law in the DR against filming consulting adults having sex?

Once again manunut you are right on the dollar! But I would be careful about speaking my mind on this board... It's not as democratic as its claims (been hurt before...). A lot of negativity, fortunately every now and then there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I have found Dr1 to be very helpful in establishing myself in the DR. But you have to go thru so much garbage sometimes to find the good stuff. Thks Rob, I like to hear side, the bad and the good. Except that on this one, I have insider info that some of my friend's perspective competition are working out a storm on this board.
My last question:
Why should this business be any different from any other business?
Nobody will be exploited. It's a matter of fact, my friend will make sure that both women and men are well looked after. They will be treated like stars and get paid accordingly. Who and how will they extort him? Under what pretext could they shoot him down or even arrest him? Just because it has not been done, does not mean it can't be done... or maybe it's already going on underground...
Can any one name me a law in the DR against filming consenting adults having sex for commercial use?

Here's an example of some of the news coverage back in late 2005 after a pornographic video filmed near some recognizeable Dominican monuments and with local 'talent' became available for sale.

Officials stated then that it was difficult to prevent people coming in on tourist visas with cameras and making low quality videos. Article also states the Secretary of Culture has apparently only twice issued permits for the approved filming of pornographic content - back in the '80s. Second link lists some pornographic films made here in '91, '02, '03, and '04.

Identifican a los protagonistas de la película pornográfica filmada en RD
El filme porno rodado en monumentos no contó ni con permiso, ni tiene registro

No mention in the articles of laws stating illegality other than in regards to minors.

Legal or not, it all sounds pretty seedy to me.

They have them in England, Australia etc. It's so people can use the webcams in private, it's not uncommon here or in many other countries.

Nope, but what has that got to do with anything?
When you ask questions like that, then you really have no clue how this country functions. Sorry, just calling it as I see it, don't get offended.

I recommend your friend comes down, sets up shop and stats filming.
Put a few ads in the Listin, post a few flyer's looking for models etc, he's onto a good thing. If he pay's L.A. and Miami rates he will have people beating at his door looking to perform.

I better get a large soda with my popcorn....

ROTFL. So, you think people are telling you to be very cautious here because of your friend's future competition?

Some of us have seen what happens to people who try to do this thing here in the DR. You (or your friend) are not the first who want to try this you know.

It is almost like wanting to become an independent taxi driver. You can get all your permits, licenses and whatever and be as legal and pure as the driven snow. But, the syndicos will soon deal with you and no more taxi, no more money, and perhaps no more head as well!
