Steve, there are so many 'pulgas' aka flea markets in the DR that opening an actual store may just run you extra and unnecessary overhead expenses.

Yes, people love anything that comes from anywhere other than the Sirena or the local little store, but you can achieve this in other ways. I dont think an actual store is necessary.

I suggest you find someone you can sell an entire barrel to or what they call a PACA - a suitcase full of stuff for one price.

If you go with the store idea, I suggest only selling NEW items and that still is a risky situation. Is almost like opening a restaurant - the likelihood of surviving are against you. Try small first, dont go renting a space and all that off the bat. Many businesses in DR are run from home or a basic galleria.

I only suggest this because I dont know if you already have a clientele or any experience with having a business in DR. Running a business in DR is not like anywhere else.

Will you give us more details on what you have already done or plan to do? Maybe more people can give you better advice.

Good luck

Don't Get Involved Locally. Major Headaches And Perhaps Worse, Personal Issues.
Instead, Become A Distributor To Importers. Sell In Volume, Usd At Port And/or By Purchase Order First.
