The people that told you that are mistaken or lying, DR is NOT cheap to live unless you are willing to adapt to the Dominican low class life style. For me, to kind of maintain my European life style (nothing special) cost me between 2,400 and 2,600 euros per month and here AT LEAST USD5,000. (2 adults, 3 small children)
