Dolce, Tribeca, Francifol

Are these still the best clubs (besides the tipicos) for a Saturday night? Anywhere where the crowd is a little older, but still fun?

Also, I was told of a good restaurant in the same plaza as Dolce... any info on it?

And finally, does anyone have the addresses of these (or other good) places?

From what i hear, yes they are.
Dolce is on 27 de Febrero, i think.
Francifol is on Calle del Sol, just below the Park Duarte (next to the cathedral--the park, not Francifol)
Tribeca is tucked away on a side street between Ave Duarte and 27 de Febrero. Street calle Jose Maria Cabral. Anyway all the taxis know where it is.
Also Zoom in the Metropolitano Shopping center on 27 de Febrero and Texas.
And the kids on the board can point you in some more directions.

The best new restaurant is Zol, located on Calle 11 just off of Ave Metropolitana (close to Bon) in the Jardines.

I'm hardly an expert on Santiago nightlife, but for a slightly older crowd, and maybe a bit more provinical, what about Kartuja?

Thanks for the replies. We went to Tribeca and Dolce.

Both were crowded with a young crowd... around 18-30.

Tribeca is much smaller and played only Salsa, Merengue and some Bachata. They charge 500+ pesos for a Grey Goose and OJ! (5000 pesos for a bottle)...and plenty of people were ordering them. Very affluent crowd...especially considering the average age.

Dolce is about twice the size, had a much more mixed crowd and drinks were more reasonable. They also played more "American" dance music.

I've been to Zoom before...it's tiny and ridiculously over-priced.

We also went to the "after-hours" disco at the Hotel/Casino Gran Admirante... also VERY tiny, absolutely packed, but kind of fun....and open until 5 am.

We ate at Paparazzo...next to Tribeca. Excelent food and impeccable service, a little pricey, but not that bad (relative to NYC or Miami...or even Santo Domingo and Cabarete).

We stayed at Hotel Casino Matum. Rooms were quite large and on par with say, Aloha Sol...but the front desk service was truly horrible. We were quoted 1830 pesos, tax included on the phone...when we arrived, they tried to charge us 2500 pesos...after a few minutes of arguing and a threat to leave, they agreed to the quoted price - which was confirmed 3 times prior on the phone...ridiculous... especially as we're looking at a plaque in the lobby proclaiming their dedication to excellent service. Also, there is no breakfast included...and nowhere close by to get breakfast, although it is a great location otherwise.

For RD$500 less you get a nice, but small room, with TV, A/C, fridge, and breakfast at the new section of Colonial..

Don't worry MAR, it is just some places that are filled with posers and people with a "I have a bigger one than you" complex.

..anyways i can go to those kinds of places here where I live and the people are not stuck up and the drinks are under $15........so I'll stick to my chopo places in the DR, LOL. oh AZB will like that one,

Is the new section considerably nicer than the original? I've stayed there a couple of times, and while acceptable for the price (I think I payed 600 pesos), wouldn't stay there again unless nothing else was available...and definitely wouldn't pay 1300 pesos...
