Default Tornado in La Vega

Does anybody have any updated information about the Tornada in La Vega this afternoon? I heard there are several injuries as well as deaths, not to mention lots of damage there. My cable isn't working (for 8 weeks now) so I can't find out anything. Anybody know anything????

I happened to visit La Vega to see a friend around 5pm this evening. We were told that Leonel had been in La Vega and were expecting traffic problems. But the storm was what made the impact. Wow! The destruction was amazing! Trees down everywhere. The cathedral lost a lot of its brickwork. Downed powerlines and large store signs dangling perilously in midair. We took a couple of detours and arrived at our friend's house. She said the news was reporting no fatalities, though I don't know how they could know for sure in such a short time. She said the storm past through in twenty minutes. On the way out we saw techos in the streets, having been blown off.

Hope that helps.

Yes, thanks for that info. I would hope there were no deaths, however one of our members here posted on another site that, unfortunately, it's been reported that there have been several. Let's pray that info. was incorrect.
Thanks again.

A serious black out in all over santiago due to the tornedo there. We have not had lights for many hours already. Its 11:11pm and still no lights. I don't think my inverter will last long.
On a side note: My inverter batteries (2) are 1 1/2 yrs old and they have degraded to a point (already) where I would get a black out in just 10 minutes after the lights would go away. The batteries were not holding charge. Thanks god I had a little bit of EDTA left over from old times. I treated my batteries with the EDTA solution and now my batteries are still holding since this afternoon. Only 2 batteries and I have lights and a running fan, not to mention internet and laptop running since this afternoon.
Long live EDTA.

I have no intention to hijack this thread, but I need to know what is EDTA?
