Default Looking for hotels in Santiago for august 2008

Hi there to all I am trying to see if anyone can give me some information on hotels in Santiago, DR. Myself and 2 friends are planning a trip there next month from the 10th until the 13th. We have been to DR quite a few times but never stayed in Santiago, DR. WE are trying to keep our rental rates between 55.00 to 85.00 dollars a night. We want to find somewhere clean good service swimming pools and chica friendly because we will have guest coming to be with us. Also a hotel that have king size beds.

The pool and bed size may be an issue, but all these fit your budget. These are in order of my favorite to least favoriteand there's lots of info on this site if you do a few searches:

Century Plaza
Aloha Sol
Codelpa Centro Plaza
Platino
Matum
and last, but least
Colonial

platino and Aloa sol are about $ 85. Both are clean and comfortable, the location is good.
But if you are looking for King size beds, swimming pools and chicas friendly your best choice is " Hodelpa Gran Almirante Hotel & Casino " $ 120.

if you guys werent staying in Santiago I would suggest going north to check out Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete where you will surely have lots of fun and enjoy the night life! check out this site and have a good look around, rent an apartment between the 3 of you and enjoy!

Aloha Sol, Platino, Century Plaza and Matum are all around 1800-2500 pesos per night (+/- $50-$70) Aloha Sol and Century include breakfast. If you're quoted more than that, tell them you'll stay somewhere else...they will likely come down in price...unless they're well booked...

examples:

I was quoted 1850 a room for three rooms at Matum (on the phone)...when we checked in they quoted 2500 pesos...we said we'd walk and they honored the 1850.

Was quoted 2100 at Aloha Sol...told them I Paid 1700 last time (which was true, but a while ago), they gave me the room for 1800.

The first two times at Century Plaza I paid 2300...I asked if there was a discount for frequent guests and now they charge me 2100...not a huge difference, but a nice gesture. This is probably the nicest of the budget hotels in Santiago (still new, has flat screen tvs, great staff, beautiful lobby, etc.), but it's a little bit farther from "the action".

Century Plaza is your place. Good price, very good resaraunt, and friendly staff. It's not far from el centro, short cab ride.
