NE Body live in Bonao?
I'm going to be staying in Barrio Prosperidad and I wondered what kind of area it is. Also, what is near in the way of restaurants, beauty salons, etc...
Thanx for your help.

Not a very good area of Bonao, I used to stay there awhile back, never had a problem myself but it is a bit of a rough neighborhood.

Why
I'm happy to hear that Bonao is such a small town. I'm not coming to party, I just want to live where it's tranquilo. I have a friend who owns a house there and will let me stay free. With the money I save, I figure I can easily go to Santiago, or the coast on some wkends to have fun. If you can find a better deal in Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo, let me know.

???.... Does a better deal mean you are looking for a free place to stay at somewhere else ? Hmmm....maybe a little unlucky. Anyway Bonao is not exactly quiet considering the high crime rate compared to other midsized towns in the country.

I live nearby in a small town and i have come to like Bonao. Sure there is some tigueraje, drug crime is on the rise, but on the whole I like the area, and it is well situated since it is between the capital and Santiago. The nearby countryside, up in the loma, is especially beautiful. There are some good places to eat -- try Las Tablas, just up the street from Banco Popular, a few blocks from the parquecentral. Nice family restaurant, good lunches. If you are cooking for yourself, you will enjoy all the fresh produce. Bonao is definitely not quiet -- too many damned pasolas, but just outside town things are quite nice.
