Dude I am not Mister Chicago Ok and I am past 40 not 40.. Someone before posted info on The Rotunda. If someone can repost it Ok. If you hate me so much ignore my posts. I am being seriuos on this asking on this. Someone before posted Rotunda by Metro Bus but is there an correct adress on this and phone number or e mail for I can verify myself? I am not doing nothing wrong on asking on this. If someone has this info and can tell me in dollars or pesos how much Rotunda is Great. Last I heard its 10 a night. Just asking not spamming ok David and others,

Look in the Rough Guide to the DR book and they say a half dozen budget hotels are clustered around Cucurullo and 30 de Marzo (example Colonial) while fare more basic and less appetizing RD300 dives can be found around Parque Valerio at the far southern end of the downtown rectangle. Just think if you don't want to spring for the 14 bucks at Colonial you can go there for under $10. Please post some pictures it should be interesting. It would be really great with smellavision video.

Can someone tell me if the hotels Platino, Los Jardines, Matum and Aloha Sol are guest friendly and if so .... do they carge you extra?

how come no one has mentioned the Hotel Camp David ? it is reasonably priced ,about $50U.S. per night , has great rooms with balcony that overlooks the whole city of santiago and has a great restaurant there . Only thing that is on top of the mountain and is a little tricky to get there . but well worth it as far as value. I love it there ,

OK Any updates on LA Rotunda then too???? Its by The Metro bus but where excatly you find this place???? Is it like just around the corner from The Metro Bus as you exit out or must you wlk a few blocks to find out? I think LA Rotunda charges like 250 to 350 RD Pesos a night??? Its in a busy area too so you can always find food and other things to buy,,,I heard a Market is nearby too and a Mcdonalds something I can care less for THE Mcdonalds that is,,,OK If anyone has any ew updates on LA Rotunda and those cheap dives or 300 RD Near Colonial please post the info here,,,Thanks then Indeed,,,THE Rockero.....

Somebody is wildly confused. There is no Retonda near the Metro station in Santiago.
The only bus station near La Retonda is Espinal, one of the least expensive buses to Santo Domingo. There is NO McDonalds either.

It's a little too far out of town and not the easiest to get too. And the food is only so so and overpriced. The view is great and it would be good for drinks and maybe a little dessert.

Hotels with a nearly european standard seems to be expansive in Santiago. I payed for a small "suite" 2.800 Pesos per night at Aloha Sol Hotel. The Breakfast was included. What they called suite looked to me more like a standard room. The only standard room (small!!!) available was on the streetsite to Calle Aloha Sol, what I cannot recommand.

El Platino was completely booked out. Hotel Matum has no rooms with safe boxes!!! Hotel Matum looks simular to the standard of the Aloha Sol. But the fact that they have no lock boxes is a clear no-go from my point of view!

Ok, here is the real deal:

Forget about rotonda or whatever rockero thinks its called. The metro bus station is in a nice location so there are no cheap hotels around. The only place I can imagine such a classy hotel for 250 pesos / night would be near transporte espinal. This is a scary neighborhood and I am sure some crack-head hookers may use some cheap hotel named rotonda in some dark alley. There are a few dangerous street in bad neighborhoods where crack-head hookers are seen doing business. The hookers charge like 100 pesos for oral jobs and may take you to some stinky hotel called rotonda with sticky beds and a few springs popping out.
So much for Rotonda hotel now lets move on.

Camp david hotel is too far out on the hills. No real intelligent life around. Just you and a view of santiago. naaa, boring.

Take your business card to hotel platino and tell them you are here for a convention at some place in santiago. They will give you a corporate rate which is cheaper than regular rate. Its a nice hotel, right in front of the entrance of pucmm hotel. Lots of young girls around at certain hours of day and night.

Hotel los jardines is nice and new with small clean rooms. Its located near residential neighborhood. If you are white and seem like a tourist then simply walk out, go up to gran almirante hotel around the block and go to 2nd floor and wait for someone to open up the door to the pool section. Now use the bar, drink beers and enjoy free wifi and free swimming pool with a million dollar view of santiago and mountains.

century plaza is also a nice hotel but I have never been inside yet. Its also far away from action if you have no car.

Colonial is a nice clean hotel as well but in a nasty street. At night, it becomes ugly there and lots of cheap crack head type hookers are seen waiting on the corner. If this is your favorite view then you will feel right at home there.

Hotel matum has a swimming pool there but I think its not as good as in gran almirante. Matum is near monumento and next to chinese restaurant (expresso jade) and famous yaroa street food vender. You can walk out and be in monument area within 5 minutes. Good location for tourists. The casino is nice and has live musical acts on certain nights of the week. If you are single, you can easily find a wife for the night there.

Gran almirante is the classiest hotel in santiago. Its right next to TGI fridays and has a nice clean swimming pool with a precious view of the green mountains. It also has a small airconditioned gym with basic exercise equipment. The bar is relaxing at the pool and you can enjoy free wifi for your laptop. I was there yesterday.

If you need an apartment for longer stay, I suggest you contact hillbilly. he rents apartments with internet and a/c. His place is in one of the best residential areas of santiago.

P.S. Hotel Aloha sol is on calle del sol (sort of like canal street of santiago). You can walk up to monument area in a few minutes. There are a million small stores to peek in but they all sell cheap stuff. The girls are cute walking up and down the street. American fast food restaurants are also within walking distance. Pizza hut is on next street corner.
