Default Alarm

Apparently there are several alarm companies in Santiago, I am asking if the folks that have alarm systems will let me know about them so that I can make an informed decision. I do not want to go to the first company that I am told about
- Name of system/company
- Name/Phone number of the system representative or company
- How the alarm system works
- How it has worked for you
- Pros/Cons in your opinion
- Price$$$

Thank you

Default Alarm tips

Shalena,

If you're going to install an alarm, make sure it's the kind with a back-up battery inside the box so if they cut off the power at the meter, the alram will go off. Also have them fit two boxes one in a visible place and one less visible. A favorite trick here is to run off with the box thinking that it will silence the alarm. Next priority is to have an alarm that sends a signal to a security company either to a fixed station or mobile patrol units and finally get one with a "panic button" which is like a remote control so that if you see or hear people snooping around outside you can fire it off from inside and hope they leg it without trying to get in. Motion activated lights outside are also a good idea.

Unless they come with nice juicy steaks,
... or a female dog in heat if your dog is male and not fixed.

Also, the Ladrone in the DR are famous for being prepared by poisoning the dogs hours or days before they invade your home.

Shalena,

If the house is not pre-wired, I'd suggest a wireless system. That is what I have. A-1 Alarm installed it and they are a division of Sentry, a well known company in the US. ( I used them in my home and also in my business.)
The big advantage -beside the installation process won't makes a huge mess in your house- when you move again, you can take it with you.
It was not cheap, about DR$ 50,000. ( I know, we do not pay for the systems in the US..) The monitoring is DR$ 2100 / 3 months.
The system is backed up by battery, the siren is the only wired thing, but even that is protected.
Let me know if you need more info.
