Hotels in Santiago
Hello,
I am travelling to Santiago in mid June and would like to know of any hotel suggestions that anyone may have. A search of the various hotel booking sites only show the Hodelpa properties and another hotel or so at $48 a night. Having stayed at Hodelpa Gran Almirante, trust me; its a great property. However is there anything out there in Santiago somewhere between the Gran Almirante and the $48 a night hotels?
Thank you for your suggestions.

After the GA-no doubt the Best in town-the field become quite level.
Two I've had a lot of positive experiences with are Hotel Platino across from PUCMM and Hotel Century Plaza on Rafael Vidal. Both are well located and quite nice. Neither is in the middle of Downtown.

I have heard good things about the Hotel Jardines, just down the street from the Gran Almirante. Cheap, small rooms, new, well located. Not pretentious. Fairly priced.
Of course, I always like the Hotel Colonial, RD$1350 a night, with good breakfast incl., right in the middle of down town (well, almost)...
There is also the Courtyard, outside of town on the highway...more expensive than Platino and further away...or the Aloha Sol....is on Sol Street, and modestly priced.

Hotel Platino. We go there often, get great rates, very comfortable, and excellent service. The only thing we don't like is the restaurant, but there's a good restaurant at the corner (we love their churrascos).

The Jardines is very nice and comparably priced with the Platino and New Century. The staff was very friendly. I did not try the restaurant during my stay there.

hi, which hotel is best suited if you want to be close to the nightlife and any idea what price range these hotels are? im going to santiago for a few days and want to sample the nightlife like Montebar, Ambi, Ahi of which i read about on the internet. Are these joints still good places to go? if not, which ones are?
is Santiago also live during weekdays?
thanks

Santiago is more or less dead during the week. Not too much going on. For being close to the monumento area try the Aloha Sol, around $60/night mas o meno. Ambis and Monte Bar are far from the downtown and would require a taxi to get to.

Thanks to all for the discussion. It appears that I've got quite a few options to play with.
Thanks again,

Hi there,
I was in Santiago for the past weekend, and my friends and I stayed at Camp David Ranch. Room prices were about RD$1500, from what I remember. Unfortunately, it's quite a way out of the city, but it's up in the mountains, and the view was incredible. The restaurant was also great - one of the best steaks I've ever had - with excellent service. I highly recommend it... enjoy a meal with a view of the full city... amazing.
If you're interested in directions, PM me while they're still fresh in my mind.
