Wages in Santiago
What do Dominican workers ear? Like for example - the girls who work in a hair salon? or those who work in a supermarket?

I am sure there is a better answer but less than $300 U.S. per month would be a safe bet.

$300-$500USD is about par for the course....I've heard jobs like office assistants pay around DRP$15,000, although I've never "seen" a paycheck. An "average work day" is longer than in the U.S. and in some cases it's a 6 day work week....

Office assistans in a law office make about $7,000 ($200 USD) to $10,000 ($300 USD)
in Santiago in Santo Domingo they make a bit more than that.
An office´s messange with his own moto will make about $9,000 ($270 USD) plus about $500 extra weekly for gas, a factory worker will make about 1,200 a week ($35 USD), a wachman will make about $10,000 to 12,000 a month, a motoconcho in Santiago will make about $300 to $500 pesos daily, a girl working in a banca (lotery bets) will make about $1,500 ($40 USD) every 2 weeks, plus a monthly bonus of about $1,000 ($35 UDS), a girl working in a supermarket will make about $7,000 to $8,500 a month with extra hours.

This is a quote from Fabio Guzman a year or so ago.
"Here are the current minimum salaries:
RD$7,360.00/month - businesses worth more than RD$4M
RD$5,060.00/month - more than RD$2M but less than 4M
RD$4,485.00/month - below RD$2M
These minimums do not apply to certain industries such as tourism. The minimum salary for a hotel worker is RD$5,575.00/month."

A hair salon in Santiago will problably cost you about $50,000 (about $1500 USD), you figure about $25,000 pesos for equiment and supplies and about $15,000 to rent a commercial place, and to have it fix and painted.

A girl at a hair salon will make between RD5k to 8k a month(the latter if she works a lot).
Wages at a supermarket will be somewhat similar, with the higher prices being paid at the nicer ones like El Nacional or La Sirena.
