Default Easiest way to get from Santiago to Las Terrenas?

I need some help, please, from anyone who's traveled from Santiago to Las Terrenas:
1. Is it an easy drive and how long does it take?
(I'm used to driving the new highway between SD and LT!)
2. What is the best route?
3. Which bus could I take instead?
Thanks so much for your help!
Susan

There are 6 buses a day to LT from Santiago, more or less. PM me for details.

The way I do it is take autopista duarte toward san francisco de macoris. Drive through san francisco to nagua and then east towards sanchez. You will see the signs by the gas station that says las terrenas. Total drive time for me has been 4 to 5 hours depending on traffic.

There's a medium size bus going from Santiago to LT.
Just ask where it has its 'parada'.

No,it's a small operator and the bus should go all the way to LT (at least that is what it says on the windshield).
The CT busses pass through Sanchez only, from there you take a guagua over the hills.
