Most gringos don't even know where nice girls in the DR are. Flash: they don't hang out in bars, just like their counterparts elsewhere.
Hey cobreboy, please look up prostitutes in the dictionary..A gold digger is not walking the streets of Sosua sleeping with anyone she can find for 1000 pesos. If golddiggers are hookers then i think that would make about half the female population in the world hookers.

No argument there.

But what do you call an 18 y.o. barrio girl hanging with a 60 y.o. guy, and neither speak the others' language??

But you miss my point. MOST-the majorly vast number of-tourist gringos don't even know where to meet good Dominican girls, much less seriously date them. And I can assure you that 99.5% of "good" Dominican girls wouldn't be caught dead in Sosua or Boca Chica.

RSG, I also believed that when I first arrived in santiago and met the society circle there. I thought the rich girl would be high maintenance but experience taught me otherwise.
My experience taught me the poor girl drains the average guy more then a rich girl. The poor girls are the ones who order things they can't afford in daily life. The poor girl is always hungry, even at 4am in the morning. She will always order shrimps, an expensive drink (mind you, often they drink more than an average Bowery street drunk). The barrio girls will never have a bikini to go to the beach and will insist you buy them one. They always have a problem on daily basis and the solution is always money and more money. They will drain you dry and then cheat with the first barrio tigre who shows up on her door-step. I can go on and on on barrio chick tricks. To me, they are all trouble.
Now on the other hand: the rich girl or lets say, the middle to upper middle class girl. I mentioned rich because these girls are rich as compared to the barrio poor girls. These girls are from a completely different planet. The middle class girl dresses differently and talks differently with a much cleaner accent. She usually doesn't even drink and doesn't care where you take her as long as its a decent place. Do not confuse the cute barrio girls in expensive bars trying to pass for a high class girl. They are still barrio rats who want to drain your wallets.
So the middle class girl lives in a solid home, with cars and all luxuries so she is not hungry to order shrimps and expensive puta drinks. They have pride and feel ashamed to ask a guy to spend money on them. They will eat any food you serve them, they will drink a beer with a smile and they will not be hungry after 12am. They will not have a financial problem that only you could solve. She will not press you to spend money on her.
In simple terms, the upper middle class girls are totally maintenance free.
Now this is my experience and its all my opinion.

AZB has a good, but somewhat crude point. I think something has been overlooked, however.

I have never seen, nor do I think will see in the near future a "wealthy" Dominican woman dating or marrying some foreigner dead-beat hiding out in DR (that is not targeted at anyone, but a mere generalisation). The Ortegas marry a Brugal -- the Jimenes (note the "s") marry a Moya, etc.

VERY VERY few cases exist otherwise unless the guy is a reputable wealthy businessman. Even the wealthy Dominicans whom attend grad school in the States seem to keep it all within the culture at the end of the day.

I agree, I am not talking about wealthy family girls. just your average middle class girls. You are 100% right, no average middle class girl from a good family would consider dating a tourist. The man has to look like brad pitt for a girl to make an exception.

This phrase sums up most of Santiago in a nutshell. My uncle was fortunate to do well in business and my cousins was raised with these people (Bermudez, Bonelly, Fondeur, Leones, etc.). When I visit from NY and hang out with them, it's like I don't ****ing exist. Unless you're part of their clique, you can forget about ever talking to these chicks. The worst part is that they're probably the hottest women in Santiago!

Lol, note the "s". That also reminds me of the Arabs that live in Santiago. I noticed that all the guys that she and her friends hung out with looked like Bert from Sesame Street with their unibrow. I was wondering why they didn't get their unibrow plucked or shaved so they looked like normal human beings. This was her answer, "They don't shave it on purpose. That's kind of like a secret sign that they're not Dominican but Arab and have money. It's hot!" I almost threw up.

The arabs who live here are also domninicans. most of them are from Lebanon and Palestine and 95% are christian. Arabs came here many many moons ago and have assimilated well in to dominican society. Most of them are well-off and have established family names in this country.
I don't know what guys he is talking about with thick eyebrows but most of the upper class in santiago are from the arab blood line, tan to white skin and straight hair. Their women are extremely hot looking and almost all are up to date with latest latin fashion. yeah the guys may look weird if you compare them with the current american fashion where guys are full of tattoos and dress like gangsters; now I see some kids dress up like fags and its considered "in" in usa. Sad.

Yeah, have you ever notice how many "OLD" people let their eyebrows grow into mops?
Disgusting look. Some even let the ear and nose hair grow.

PS:
Since today is my 68th birthday, I have the right to talk about "OLD" people. lol
What's that you say? Speak up young man!
