Congradulations to Manny Ramirez!
Congradulations to Manny Ramirez, newest member of baseball's 500 club!
FOX Sports on MSN - MLB -. AND, he's going to give the proceeds he gets from the baseball he hit to the hospital he's sponsoring! What a class act!

Indeed....
a very nice gesture by Manny. And lets not forget the unselfish fan who caught and gave back what amounted to a financial "homerun" for himself.
Respectfully,

catch this?
Did anyone catch the highlights of Manny's first hit in NY?
He thought he hit a HR, but it was actually a bounce-over-the-wall. Ground rule double.
Pretty funny "highlight."

I did see that photo - then again, that's typical of Manny being Manny. What about the two errors he made last night? I think one was counted as a hit - favortism for sure. Hey they won, who cares, right?

It's a great honor for Manny, but I wonder if his feat will be tainted because he played in the "steroid era." There have never been rumors surrounding Manny, and if you listen to comments by his teammates he is the most dedicated athlete in terms of his hitting, but it's the environment around him. Look at A-rod and there have been rumors around him. I wonder if the recent increase in the 500 home run club changes Manny's place in it.
Also, does this make Manny a guaranteed future hall of famer?
And finally, has anyone noticed how Ken Griffey Jr. is on his way to 600 and no one has said a peep? Unfortunate for one of the greatest baseball players of our time.

I doubt they'll remember that at his induction ceremony.
And no, no one cares, as long as you win. That's one of the beauties of a team game. His performance hasn't been in hindrance in their last 2 World Championships.

We're very proud of Many Ramirez's new accomplishment. He has always been so close to Dominican baseball, coming down to play for his DR fans in the winter league.
But talking about class acts, I think the biggest class act was that by the fans that caught the ball and returned it to Manny Ramirez -- Damon and Jason Woo, from the Nahant, Mass.
Boston Red Sox - Ramirez still doing the job - The Boston Globe

I've never witnessed that before - a fan returning a historic home run ball.

The Woos look like die hard sox fans. This maybe a little provacative, but would a Yankees fan do that for Arod's 600, assuming he is still there?
BTW, the little jab I made about Manny dropping the ball was just having fun - as always, you have to look at the whole package - minus the dreadlocks of course.
