Default Soccer anyone?

Ok, I know most of you guys are not into soccer. But, I am not going to let myself 'intimidated' by your fancy baseball talk!

I came to this site to talk about soccer, yes Dominican soccer! (you must think I am loco).

Seriously though, DR has a very good sub-20 soccer team that is going to challenge Haiti, Jamaica, and St-Vincent for a spot in the sub-20 world cup in Egypt. DR has already knocked caribbean power Cuba out of the race.

So can anyone share some info on the DR players like who they are and where they play club football?

(Also why you guys ignore other sports in which DR is doing well like Boxing?)

Peace.

Speaking of soccer, does anyone know where soccer fans gather in Santiago and play? I live playing soccer, but never see it played here.

No many people play soccer in the DR. Only in Moca and Bonao I’ve seen
playing soccer. But on Sundays afternoon somewhere close to El Embrujo Tercero in Santiago the Haitians play soccer, ask to the Haitians students in Utesa or PUCMM. for sure they will have good information for you.

I would like to know this as well liam1, and i agree with the OP if there is a good under 20 team in place in DR there is no reason why they cannot play amongst the world's finest. look at baseball, DR is making moves in olympic sports, boxing and basketball too. i hope to see more progress in soccer! - J

In the 90s, I used to play somewhere around Las Americas. I remember there used to be some Dominican players as well. I don't remember the place, but it's a park not too far from the Christopher Colombus monument (El Faro?).

BTW, has anyone heard of Fana? Is he still playing in the DR or has he signed a contract overseas? He must be around 22-27 now and watching him playing in Trinidad, I believe he would have made the national team of any concacaf team.

There is a league with more than a few teams. Call Pancho Motors (809) 822-0277 in Moca and ask for Ramon. Tell him Chip sent you.
