That's easy...just look at their roster historically on mlbreference.com

Well, actually, the more I look at it the more they could be called a race of their own....

Mr. Lu
Senor Lu,

Read back to the first post. I base this on my personal experience with Dominicans that say they "HATE" the Yankees - all give me the same reason - they don't have or haven't had enough Dominican players.

I do agree...it is a silly argument. But that's what baseball is all about hehehe

Chip the hate toward the Yankees didn't start today, it goes back to the 70's and 80's. Back in those days we barely had players in the Major League let along the Yankees.

Take a look a the roster of the Yankees in those two decades;

1970 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

zero Dominican player.

1971 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

1 Dominican; Felipe Alou but just a shadow of his former self.

1972 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

Again only Felipe.

1973 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

Two players; Felipe and Mateo Alou, both washed out and about to retire. Neither were regulars.

1974 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

1975 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

1974 and 1975 zero Dominican players.

1976 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

This year they had Juan Bernhardt; but he wasn't popular in DR and only played 10 games.

1977 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

Zilch players from DR.

1978 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

This year they had Domingo Ramos (played only one game) and Damaso Garcia. Garcia couldn't become a regular in two years, was traded to Toronto and became a superstar. In the eyes of Dominicans the Yankees never gave him a chance.

1979 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

Only Damaso.

1980 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

Not even one.

1981 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

None.

1982 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

1983 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

82 and 83 they only had Juan Espino, a backup catcher who did nothing to remember him.

1984 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

This year they had Jose Rijo, another case of a player who couldn't make it with the Yankees, got traded and became a superstar. In 1990 he was the MVP of the World Series playing for the Cincinati Reds.

1985 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

This year they had Victor Matta, who in two years collected only 77 AB, so not likely Dominicans care about him.

1986 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

None.

1987 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

Only a washed out Cecilio Guante.

1988 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

Three washed out; Guante, Hipolito Peña and "Prendalinda" Santana.

1989 New York Yankees Roster by Baseball Almanac

This year they had Luis Polonia and for the first time since 1974 the had a player who was popular among Dominicans.

Now compare that to the record of the Dodgers, Pirates, Expos, Blue Jays, Astros ect hiring Dominicans, not only the amount, but players who were popular and Dominicans could feel proud of.

you can keep all these stats to yourself...there is only one reason behind all of this "YANKEES SUQ!!! jejejej.

It was difficult being a sox fan while living in nyc. I would walk around NYC with bo sox "yankee hater" tee shirt and i get harrassed all the time.

But it is quite true tho. While I am in the D.R....EVERYONE roots for the Sox.

IF there are any NYC red sox fan...the best bar to go to is the Riviera Sport Bar on Seventh avenue near christopher street. TONS of sox and pats fans there.

True tho...not to many dominicans on the sox's roster these days. But perhaps because they were one of the first teams to have a major dominican line up...i am sure that is where the local interest comes from.

Default Interest in the RedSux will fade

Let us see how quickly interest in the Red Sux will fade if they do not win this year.
