FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Modesto, California, October 7, 2005 – ChuloCards.com is on a mission to help citizens of the Dominican Republic by aiding in the establishment of English learning schools. Instituto Inglés Fronterizo (English Institute of the Frontier), founded earlier this month in the northern border town of Dajabon, is the first to be supported by the Internet Telecom Company. Larry Spencer, founder of ChuloCards.com announced that 100 percent of the proceeds from his online calling card company will be used to help finance the school.

“After Visiting the Dominican Republic earlier this year, I saw a great need for education in Dajabon and offered assistance to the school,” said Spencer. “It’s a great opportunity for those who attend the school, and for those who will attend in the future.”

The money generated from the sale of international and domestic prepaid calling cards will be donated to the school on a monthly basis, helping provide high quality teachers, books, learning materials and scholarships.

“It has been my dream to help the people of my town, and this will help so much,” stated Quibery Gomez, founder of Instituto Inglés Fronteriza. “There are many people here who either can’t afford to attend or can’t afford to buy the books. Being able to provide either scholarships or books to each student will be a blessing.”

Ms. Gomez returned to her homeland in July after studying at Modesto Junior College, Modesto, CA, during the past two years. She received several degrees and four technical certificates in food processing and laboratory science, all without understanding more than a handful of English words when she arrived. Her education was made possible through a scholarship provided by the Cooperative Association of States for Scholarship Programs (CASS), a partnership program under the umbrella of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Education -2
The first year of this project will include establishing the school as the premier English learning institute in the city. Plans are being made to supply handheld electronic translators and computers to the school, as well as a permanent building. At this time, learning materials are limited to a few scribbled notes on a pad of paper and a chalkboard.

“Aiding projects such at this is a huge undertaking,” said Spencer. It is not enough for just one organization, but for many and I am searching every day for others who can lend a helping hand.

ChuloCards.com is a prepaid domestic and international calling card company, offering over 900 different calling cards through its website. The company supplies prepaid calling cards and consumers at a discounted rate. In 2005, the mission of the organization was shifted from generating profits for personal gain to generating profits for the betterment of mankind.
