Default Sponsoring a Dominican Nurse to Canada?

I would like to have information regarding sponsoring two registered nurses to Canada. A close doctor friend of mine has a child who has been in a coma for a long time due to a car accident, who requires 24/7 care. They have hired nurses in Canada to care for her in their home, but with the shortages of labor here in Alberta are having a tough time getting enough staff. They need 2 full time registered nurses to work for them. Are there any agencies in the DR that they could contact? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I am sure that Canada has work visas for those professionals in short supply.

I know that the US certainly has a huge nursing shortage.

Apply for work visas. IF, of course, they are real nurses....

Yes, there's a big shortage of health professionals here especially with the aging population. And even if they aren't registered nurses they could work as live-in caregivers (nannies).

Thank you for your replies. I will check with them to see if they have contacted the link you provided in the past. I know in the past they have sponsored a couple of nurses from the Phillapines to imigrate to Canada rather than having the temporary work visas. We had suggested to them maybe there were nurses (and hopefully ones with degrees from the universities in the DR) that would like to have the opportunity to live in incredible accomodations at their home and have a great wage compared to what they would be making in the DR. Happy New Year

I checked the link re: international applicants and it is most helpful however does require that they write the exam in Canada in English that always poses a problem for some professionals applying here. These people are acting on their own and hiring privately. I'm sure this is a really complicated procedure to sponsor professionals, but I'm hoping for their sake that they will find someone and to their benefit, since he is a Doctor, he will know right away who has fictional papers and who doesn't.

There are no places in the DR that one could go to to inquire about hiring?
thanks again.

Yes all the health professionals are regulated by their colleges and hospitals only hire accredited and registered staff. But if they have sponsored people before they know what's involved. I guess if they are searching for nurses from the DR, you should post the details or contact info in Living/Employment section of this site or try to find a head hunter in the DR who will recruit and screen candidates for this employer.

Good luck.

Honestly, there are not that many nurses with a 4 year degree....We at the PUCMM used to offer the degree, but nowadays everyone wants to be a doctor..I have posted on this before.

I am sure that there might be a few interested in this type of work. I'll drop a dime tomorrow at the University and see.....

I know that this is supposed to be about the DR but if you can't find a nurse from there--- Ireland and South Africa are highly qualified. In the US we get the Irish Echo newspaper-- I don't know if it's available where you live but maybe they have it online.

Just a thought.

Thank you everyone for your time and efforts. I will pass this info on to Dr.
Vince and hopefully something will come of it for them.
