Default Killer storms... are Dominicans and DR1ers ok?

According to reports, a series of severe and deadly storms with tornados cut through Central Florida this morning from Tampa Bay to Smyrna Beach and everything inbetween including the Orlando area.

Since we got many Dominicans and DR1ers who live in the general affected areas, I think this is important news for many people here.

Are any of the DR1ers who live in those areas ok?

Haven't heard from my son yet (he lives about 45 miles north east of Tampa) but his house is "hurricane" proof so I'm sure he's fine.
Sure feel sorry for the folks that lost relatives, friends or a lifetime of momentos!

One of the churches was "hurricane proof" and it just has the foundation standing.

I think that laurapasinifan and cobraboy are okay since they posted today and so did DRTAMPA...

A lot of the major damage was east and nothof Tampa...

Havee to wait and see.

Hope they are all right.

Tampa is fine. It's the folks northeast that got whacked. The Gov. called a state of emergency and things seem to be going as well as it could.

If only the state of LA had responded to Katrina as the state of FL has for this...

Florida seems to get hit so hard from many weather disasters. We are very fortunate here in the DR that we havent seen worse events than we have, although since the tsunami (hope thats right) I find myself watching the sea a lot, tonight the winds were very strong and the waves didnt look very nice.

the storms hit the cities of Lady Lake and Leesburg in Lake County and also Deland and some other towns in Volusia County.

The reports say 19 deaths but I talked to a lady today in the Leesburg that says her brother in law said as of 11 am this morning that more than 100 people were missing.

I saw a video and that storm flattened a lot of homes. BTW most buildings are required tro be designed to withstand winds up to 130 mph in Fl. but of course a tornado's wind speed is much, much higher

I know I was here in Palm Beach Gardens for the last three and it is the scariest moments I have ever had. Especially being shuttered in. I know my parents got this fabric stuff, I think from so at least now I can see outside.

I can only hope that the hurricane seasons arent as bad as they are saying.

Posting from Pennsylvania makes your statement unlikely and if your intension is to advertise as you did in your other post.......Don't.

Yes I am OK... I live in Orlando and it was ok here from what they tell me. I was actually out of state working at the time.
