Dominican Students in Florida

The Dominican Student Association at the
University of Florida will be hosting the first ever Florida
Dominican Student Conference the Weekend of March 28-30, 2008 in Gainesville. I'm not in that school but I attend Florida International University and I just received this information. If you know anyone who attends any Florida college/university keep checking the threads.

As I get more information I'll keep everyone posted.

The Dominican Student Association at the

Florida later this month/early January.

I am contemplating bringing my family to the US in the near future (If I can get a visa for my wife) and will probably settle in the Tampa/St. Pete area because of the proximity to McDill AFB.
Are you by chance familiar with any educational programs conducted by the local school system designed to assist newly arrived, non-English speaking Secondary and High School students?

I think they are thinking of having current and graduate Dominican students. I found this out yesterday so as soon as I get more information, I will let you know.

The DANR is the Dominican American National Roundtable. This year it was here in Miami at the Radisson. It was my first time attending and I can tell you it will not be my last. It was such a great experience and we even got to meet the legend Johnny Ventura. Next year the conference will be in Providence,RI Oct.10-12

I am not familiar with any educational programs conducted by the local school system designed to assist newly arrived, non-English speaking Secondary and High School students in that area but I am sure that they have ESOL programs. I can look around for you and if I find any information I will be sure to send it you way.
