Why would Dominicans be found South of Haiti? Perhaps Haitians?
Prevailing winds are easterly, so perhaps they left from the southern part of the DR, or perhaps the report is not entirely accurate. But its certainly suggests there was a horrifying voyage.

Winds from the north were very strong the past 2 weeks. Perhaps that played a part in where they ended up :\

No, Dominicans from SFM who left from La Romana on November 13th. according to this article, after bribing Dominican Coast Guard to let them go.

For anyone that knows:

It states that the captain abandoned the boat after it ran out of fuel. Does this mean that the captain jumped out of the boat in to the ocean or do these yolas tow a smaller boat behind them for the captain to use?

When a yola successfully reaches PR does the captain stay in PR or does he come back with the yola?
