Sorry for the LONG Post, but I gotta get this off my chest:
So I am new to NY and I am a dark-skinned Afro-Cubana/African-american (but heritage is from Martinique). There are very few non-white Cubans in America for various political reasons, which makes dating hard because I am attracted to men of color (morenos, negros, prietos, mulattos, indios, me da lo mismo). I like African-American men too, but I miss out on my cultura hispana, and am interested in dating a Dominican man.
The only thing is...well...I went to a club called Umbrella the other day with some friends, and it was chock full of cute Dominican guys, but none of them seemed interested. I have very fine features and curly hair down my back (although this doesn´t necessarily define beauty to me, I know how men of color can be and they seem to like that sh!t) and a really nice body and all, but I think my skin color was just not appealing to them at all! This is what I look like:

When I spoke Spanish, people looked mad surprised and asked me why i speak Spanish. I was like, "why do YOU speak Spanish?" I feel so excluded when I go out looking for Dominican guys with my friends....should I just give up? Or do I need to start playing baseball like David Ortiz or Vladimir Guerrero for my skin color to be desirable?!

Or am I just being silly?
HELP ME!
