I know there is a Dominican owned and run cigar shop in the gas lamp district in San Diego that is a kind of Dominican meeting point. California is a big place! Any particular region or city?

I recently moved to the bay area, specifically Oakland, CA about three months ago. I haven't seen a Dominican person, restaurant, etc., anywhere around here. I know the Dominican population in this part of California is very poor. I know there have to be some Dominicans here though, so if you're Dominican and you live in the bay, let me know!

I was just curious of how many Dominicans are in California. I have been living in Los Angeles for 7 years and have met very few Dominicans. I would love to participate in Dominican events if there are any. I know someone hosts some events at the Hollywood Park Casino but I can't find the source.

Does anyone know if the Dominican Carnival in Hollywood was cancelled? I was really looking forward to attending it back on 10/11/09 but when I went to the Dominican Carnival in Hollywood site to get info the day before, I didn't see anything. If any Dominican events happen, someone PM me, otherwise my West Coast Dominican culture will consist of talking to my family and drinking Brugal and whatever Presidente I bring back.
