Default Dominican in NC

I'm new to this message board. My name is Claudia and I live in Raleigh with my family. I'm looking to connect with other Dominicans that live in the triangle.

Hi!
My name is Shalena and I am an American from Raleigh that moved to Santiago last year. I had alot of Dominican friends in Raleigh, they are there, you just have to look a little harder than you would have to in NY.
Also bachata on this forum is in Raleigh now.
If you want to give me your email address, I can give it to a couple of friends of mine depending on what you are looking for. Friends with children, or just couples, or just some girlfriends to hang out with. I also have alot of Boricua friends there...
And you have to see Keila at Erlina's hair salon for all of your blow-out needs!!
Nice to meet you
SHALENA

Yes I've been in Raleigh over a year but very few dominican people live in this town, this afternoon I saw a car awaiting for the green light on Capital Boulevard and I notice that the front tag was the Dominican flag.

Bachata, I have to disagree with you. I went out every weekend with a total of never less than 8-10 Dominicans in Raleigh and was introduced to alot more. I have an acquaintance (partied with him quite alot, went to his house for X-mas parties but not what you would call close friends) and he runs a bilingual magazine in Raleigh that is very popular, evry party he had in his house was packed full of Dominicans...all of whom lived in Raleigh.

All you saw was one car with the flag?? There is an apartment complex on one of the streets off of Capital Blvd that probably has one of the biggest concentrations of Dominicans than any other Apartment complex in Raleigh, I will have to find out the name of it for you..............

I hope you have adjusted here in Raleigh. I was searching around the triangle in hopes of finding Dominican circles for my fiance when she comes here in possibly 6 months or less. I know the Compare Foods has very friendly Dominicans that work there and you can ask someone there and have a good Dominican lunch as well. Enjoy and stay positive...you will find your circle I am sure.

You are right Shalena there are a lot of Dominicans in this area and if you add Durham and Chapel Hill to the mix you will feel like you have left N.C. and hit Santo Domingo for awhile. Jay and Claudia just hang in there and visit some of the Dominican Restaurants, salons and grocery stores in the area..there are some in Charlotte, N.C. also...soon enough you will make lots of friends...even some that are not Dominican but love to visit the island as much as possible .
