let me guess, you re one of those "we should unite the island" people ? and that we should open our borders to everyone and thier mother .let me not forget that we are a peace of crap little island, so who gives a f*** ,right? who cares what we think , who cares about are values .morals,culture,history.Im pretty sure thats your mind set like all other "we should unite the island" types . you and the rest who share your views need a HUGE dose of REALITY and learn to be considerate and respectful to anothers culture . please remember that people gave thier lives for each nation (H & DR) to exist and everytime you come with your non-sense , you disgrace these these people, thier lives, thier cuase, and most important of all thier counties .So think of that when you come with your "lets unite the island" Bulls***.

Ok, let me try to reiterate why this isn't of no importance. For one its obvious that Haiti has influence DR and vice versa. Both countries share the island of kiskeya and are the byproduct of French and Spanish conquistadors. Whether you like it or not DR was given birth by Haiti and inorder for DR to take pride in its nationality it must reject anything Haiti has contributed to the Dominican Society. Thus, if dominicans would accept or acknowledge that Haiti have contributed greatly to it society there might not be a dominican rep. Since the birth of DR its people have been feed lies and misguided from its true history.
question. How can domincans know their history without knowing Haiti's history? Why do domincans glamourize Spaniards their true oppressor and despise Haiti their bethrens? See its easy to manipulate undeducated people to think that an orange is purple.
so again it leads me to say "Who cares". Let the blind stay blind..

Haiti is Haiti and the DR is the DR and....
....neither has to 'appreciate' anything about the other. What has happened in the past is there in the history books for all to see.
The Dominican Republic is a Latin American country which has the great misfortune of having to share an island with an African country smack in the middle of Latin America. Haiti has nothing in common with the rest of the Caribbean countries, which have been mostly British colonies, except for the color of the peoples' skins, and much less with its Dominican neighbors. If you know anything about Haiti, you must recognize that it has been a failure as an organized society and reflects faithfully its African heritage. It is very much a 'typical' African country (disorganized society with anarchy as a major part of its structure, corruption, human life is not valued and your head can be chopped off for the slightest reason, etc., etc.).
All Dominicans have to be 'thankful' to Haitians for is for occupying us for 22 years in the 19th century, for bringing additional diseases and poverty and, oh yes, providing plenty of cheap labor.

Spirit,
I think you need to get your spirit lifted. Dominican Rep is Latin Am. country and blahahahah... You have not 1 clue of what u're talking about. BTW, most of the carib islands were not colonize by the British. Its funny to see these uneducated people on this forum make up things. If you dont know anything about ur history then keep ur mouth shut...
I will not say more since I'll hurt ur feelings...Stay working in the bodegas....
If we're African white are you white...Please!!!!!! keep dreaming....

Enough is enough. No wonder these threads are frowned upon by the management.
