On a good note--- if you are around malaria you build up a tolerance. So it takes many more bites??? to finally do you in-- where you get sick. So, if you are exposed to it constantly..... You're lucky!

If you are a tourist and you get bitten your immune system can fight it off and you might not come down with it but then it you might.

If you are a resident you could be carrying it and not know it. You could go years without having it manefest itself.

Then one day........ SURPRISE!!!!!

As the OP was asking about Dengue and the questions were answered then the reason for the thread has served its purpose. As usually happens on these threads they get side tracked and end up nowhere as the case here. Rather then being an informative thread it has turned into a debate and therefore the reason for its transfer to the 'debates' forum. Regardless of which forum a thread is in they all have the basic rules and regulations that are followed on this board, you know, things like no religion, race, name calling and the like. When these rules are overstepped the moderators have a tendency to step in and use the big red button. In my case this is especially true when a person that should very well know better indulges in that which they have no business doing regardless of who they are.

The only purpose of this post is to explain as to why I have in fact used the big red button in this thread.

If your desire is to answer the OP with their original question then by all means do so. It your desire is to take up arms in the now ongoing debate then by all means do so but please refrain from crossing the line drawn in the sand concerning that which can and cannot be discussed on this board. Thank you.

All this time I thought I disliked the perpetrators of Haitianism more so than the Haitians themselves. Thank you Chris! I really needed someone who has never met me, never seen me, never had a one on one conversation with me, never fully analyzed my personality, never seen with whom I relate to, who I consider friend or foe; what type of people I sorround myself, etc to tell me what I have.

Thank you Chris for diagnosing that fobia towards Haitians.... if only it was true.
