Default the vast anti Dominican conspiracy

Today's news indicates the Dominican foreign ministry intends to position international outrage against the treatment of Haitians as unfair competition for tourism dollars. It's an interesting tactic. I don't think it's likely to be effective, but I admire the creativity.

At no time, by the way, have any of the NGOs and other groups behind the information campaign made any statements against the Dominican Republic. I don't recall ever seeing anything characterizing Dominicans or the government in anyway at all. THere has been significant noise about the treatment Haitians have received. I think reasonable people can understand a sense of shame in being linked to some of these reports, but that's very different than suggesting traveling to Polynesia instead of Punta Cana would somehow improve the situation.
