Default PJT / anyone - a Bavaro question for you

PJT (or anyone else),

You have helped many here at DR1 with issues concerning Bavaro/PC. I posted a thread concerning Bavaro a few days ago and no one responded so I am trying again hoping that you may see the question and hopefully be able to answer my questions.

Below is the thread of a few days ago. Thanks.

Information about Bavaro?
If anyone is knowledgeable about the following I would appreciate your help.

About the bus that leaves Santo Domingo (Juan Sanchez Ramirez #31, near Maximo Gomez) and arrives in Bavaro:

#1 - Where does the bus arrive at in Bavaro?
#2 - Is there public transportation (guagua or carro publico) from that point to Cortecito?

About discos and taxis:

#1 - If I stay at a non all-inclusive hotel are there resorts that will let me in to their discos even though I am not staying at their resort? If so, which ones?
#2 - What can I expect to pay for a taxi at night from Cortecito to a disco and what can I expect to pay for the return trip from the disco to Cortecito?
#3 - Are there any recommendations for a taxi company?

Thanks in advance for your help

I'll help you with the information I have at hand.

#1 - Where does the bus arrive at in Bavaro?

The bus will let passengers off at the resorts/residencials that abut the road. Let the driver know where your destination is and the bus will stop there. If your accomodation is right in the Cortecito you will be let off at the corner to the entrance of El Cortecito and all you have is a short walk.
The 7 am bus from S.D. arrives in Bavaro on/around 11 am.
The 4 pm bus arrive on/arround 8-9 pm depending on traffic

#2 - Is there public transportation (guagua or carro publico) from that point to Cortecito?
See answer #1
There is public transportation at the entrance of the Cortecito. motoconchos, taxis, and guaguas to other destinations. There are alway taxis in the area.

#1 - If I stay at a non all-inclusive hotel are there resorts that will let me in to their discos even though I am not staying at their resort? If so, which ones

You can officially get in some A.I's if you pay for a day or night pass. If the resort has a casino you can tell a white lie and tell the gate keeper your going to the casino, he'll let you in, you head to the night club instead of the casino.

Your best option though is Mangu just outside the Occidental Flamenco and is about 2km from the Cortecito, on your way to Plaza Bavaro.

#2 - What can I expect to pay for a taxi at night from Cortecito to a disco and what can I expect to pay for the return trip from the disco to Cortecito?

Do not pay over 280 Pesos to Mangu, if you do they are getting the better of you. If you are adventurous you can take a motoconcho for about 30 Pesos during day and 40-50 Pesos at night The Siutratural taxis (cream colored) are always in the area, their fares is 280 Pesos or 8 Dollars, they like dollars.

#3 - Are there any recommendations for a taxi company?

Siutratural has a lock in the Bavaro area. However, there is a taxi company in Beron located near the crossroads from the airport about 7 miles from El Cortecito. It is a local company and will charge lower fares. The downside is the taxis are dispatched from Beron and most of the drivers speak only Spanish.

Beron Taxi (809) 552-1013
Siutratural (809) 221-2741

Regards, PJT

Note: The fares are correct as of this date PJT on ocassion asks the going rates from the drivers. Because the exchange rate between currencies is about as solid as a bowl of Jello it is hard to get a true barometer of the fares for the immediate future.
