Default Is Punta Cana in the Caribbean or Atlantic

I have seen written information in which Punta Cana is listed as being in the Caribbean and other info from the Message Boards which states that it is in the Atlantic? Which is correct? In either case, its beautiful and that's what counts.

The destination is in the Caribbean (Dominican Republic) and going by "most" maps it's on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island. But, some others show it between the Atlantic and Caribbean Oceans.

Thanks for the reply. I kept trying to find a definitive answer on the internet. As you indicate, according to the maps is lies between the Atlantic and Caribbean. I just can't find on a map exactly where the boundry is between the Atlantic and Caribbean.
