Many hotels have paid wifi. When will they learn that free wifi brings lots of advantages. I myself now prefer to go for long weekends to Riu Palace Punta Cana than to Ocean Blue (which I really adore) because RPPC has free wifi in sports bar.

I agree. I guess many of the hotel's management is short sighted and only see the benefit they derive from taking the $10/day for WiFi.

Charging for wifi in this day and age is ridiculous...it doesn't only happen in the DR, but more and more hotels around the world are offering it free...
