Rubio,

How is the crowd? Are there 20+ year olds? Or does it gear more toward an older crowd.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Sometime shotels run a promotions on prices. For example, Melia had a promotion few weeks ago for US$80/pp/night, bringing a double bedroom at US$160 per night. But reguraly, Melia is one of the most expensive hotels in Bavaro. If not a secret, post a price offered so I can advise you if something "smells".

Mix and mix. Of everybody. Young and older. I haven't seen many "retirees" though. I would say 20-50 years old mix.

Bear in mind, the more expensive the hotel, the fewer the young crowd (money thing). OB offers a good value for money. Like if you compare OB and Melia, you will find more older people in Melia (it's more expensive). That's an example.

The price I got for the Melia was $1277.80/pp. The Ocean Blue was $1303/pp and is rated as a 3 star where Melia is rated a 4. The Barcelo was $1327/pp. The Melia and Barcelo includes some golf. I forgot if the OB does or not. My favorite place is the Iberostar Bavaro but that is $1537/pp with no golf. The Barcelo and Iberostar are also rated 4 stars in this particular book. Other reviews I've seen rate the melia the highest followed by the others with OB usually last in that group. I don't understand why a new hotel would have such a low rating and high price. The VIP package is $1650/pp.

By the way, good point about the younger crowd and money. Any suggestions which resort the 20 somethings would go? I want to make sure my kids have a great time!

Thanks for all of your help!

I just came back from Barcelo Premium (used to be Breezes). I'm not sure how it compares to other resorts but I was very pleased with it and it seemed to have a good mix of people. I've been there twice and both times I have seen many 20-somethings (my age group) and had fun meeting people and enjoying everything there.

Those prices are with airfare, right?

For what dates, taht is quite important!!!???

Ocean Blue, for example, booked on hotel's website, for mid-october dates, goes for 570 USD pp for 7 nights.

OB is 5 star, not a 3 star hotel.
I think the only 3 star hotel in PUJ area is Club med. Even LTI is a 4 star, and I don't like it much. Most hotels are 4 and 5 stars.

Rubio,

The rates are for early January travel and air is included. I know this is a more expensive time to travel. But it was the only time my family could do it.

Thanks for all of the info.

hey Rubio,
is Club Med really just rated 3 stars?
i've never been in a room over there, but i have several clients from there over the year and they never seemed to be of the "cheap crowd".
