Unhappy Bavaro -cheap and cheerful accommodation?

Single female exploring more of DR (have a place in Las Terrenas I base out of when in DR)..Are there any nice non inclusive hotels, B&Bs, rooms to rent in Bavaro area? All inclusive and expensive is not my style. Travel alone...
I beleive there is flight from El Portillo to Punta Cana now.

You can check out Hotel El Cortecito Inn. It costs about 50 or 60 dollars per night, with breakfast, hotel has pool, a restaurant, rooms are regularly equipped (TV, cable, phone, A/C and small fridge). It is not on the beach but the beach is across teh street. The "street" is a narrow walkway full of restaurants, gift shops, etc. so there is no motorized traffic. You are about 30 meters form the beach.

This is the only non-AI reasonably priced and fulla menities hotel you can find in Bavaro.

Also, as mentioned, there are many stores, restuarants, Internet, butique, supermarket, exchnage houses, etc. within a small walking distance.

If you are looking for a B & B, I recommend La Posada de Piedra in Cortecito. Very basic accomodations but very clean and adequate IMO. I believe their rates have gone up a bit since we stayed there 2 yrs back but worth lloking at their website for pics and rates (Hotel Punta Cana, La Posada de Piedra-Republica Dominicana).

Good luck

When I did my solo time I stayed at the El Cortecito Inn it was fine. I really enjoyed that area. Believe me you will only be solo if you choose!
