I was wondering if it is possible to camp on the island? Are permits possible? If not, are there any options for an off the beaten path experience. Any info/advice welcome.

Camping is not permitted as far as I know...although its been a while since I was last there. If I recall correctly, all visitors are requested to leave by around 5pm. Enjoy, it it very spectacular.

no camping and no activity off beaten paths, it is a protected area, full with visitors on daytime and abandoned on nighttime.
