Candadian drowns

I have read stories in DR1 that when an expat needs assistance from their respective embassy, none arrives. This time its the Canadian.....

Friends of a Vancouver man missing in the Dominican Republic say the Canadian Embassy and local authorities failed him after he disappeared while trying to rescue another man caught in a riptide.

Hady Quan, 32, was last seen Friday in the waters off the beach resort Excellence in Punta Cana, his friend Marius Purcel said in an interview Sunday. Purcel is in Vancouver but has been in regular contact with friends in the Dominican Republic.

This is such a sad ending to probably what was being an enjoyable Holiday Vacation. My thoughts and prayers to the family involved. Unfortunately even though we have a Canadian Embassy in Foreign Countries, they do not seem to be as efficient as we expect them to be.
