hey Kate,
i am the Mike who brought you the donations to the Punta Cana Resort&Club,
i run my boats anyways on your resort's property, most are based at the Punta Cana Marina. btw, those donations been from Miguel, a bordmember here on DR1, brought in to me by his buddy Gregg, also on the DR1 bord, who i met together with PC Mike here at the corner bar.
Robbie, in which area in PC you planned to build your new home?

Coming in march
mike
we will be coming in march staying at the melia this time. We are going to be making our home in uvero alto. We own a condo in el dorado, cortecito but we rent that one out. We come down evry 3-4 months, when our home is finished we will stay there and not a hotel. So searching out the markets, stores and businesses is something we do so we are getting familiar with everything.

Montreal - where is the supermarket Sirena?
When I stay in Punta Cana I end up going into Higuey to Iberia for groceries, other than picking up small things at the El Corticito supermarket.
Anyone have suggestions on another supermarket for me other than making the trip to Higuey.
Also, is this Jumbo scheduled to open end of 2008 someone said? So, it wont be open for spring of this year i take it.....

A supermercado in the DR is not the same as a supermarket in NA.
Sirena and Jumbo are kinda like Wal-mart supercenters (clothes, furniture, appliances, food, alcohol). With good prices.
The closest Sirena would be only in Santo Domingo.

los corales to la romana one way would be 90minutes.
i lately buy meat and many other stuff at a new small supermarket, named El Cibao, opened a few months ago in Veron, on the straight on, when you drive from the Veron Crossing(police station, gas station aso) towards La Otra Banda it is located on half way before the Propane Gas station, on the right side of the street.
the stuff they have is good and very reasonable priced, and if you request new products they still don't have they bring it in and add it to they invent.
the owner of the store is always present.
have fun

What?
Have you ever been to Supermercado Nacional? PriceSmart? Carrefour? Jumbo?
They look like NA supermarkets. They even carry NA products.

Has Cibao improved since they opened? I went about 1 month after they opened and I could barely get around with my cart and there wasn't much selection...

The term supermarket in NA refers to food only stores (also known as a grocery store).
The term in the DR tends to refer to superstores like Jumbo. It is true that Nacional only sells food though (to my knowledge)

higuey
We were at a large supermarket on the west side of Higuey in November. It had clothing and some household goods upstairs and grocery downstairs. Nice and clean and very busy!!! What was the name of this store? ?Anyone know? The parking lot was off to the right when you are standing to enter the store. Nice neighbourhood too.
