Which is best resort for young singles in there 20's at punta cana? - Page 2

I would suggest:

Ocean Blue - I like
Catalonia Bavaro - lots of young people go
Barcelo Bavaro - lots of young people go, I don't like at all
Iberostar - nice hotel
Riu Bambu - Pacha disco is on premises and recently they don't allow outside people in
for more luxury you can opt for Riu Palace Punta Cana - really nice, the lobby feels like a real palace, and is one of the very few closed and AC'd lobbies

Maybe someone can help me out...

I'm 30 y/o and planing on going solo to Punta Cana around 4th of July weekend. What's the atmosphere like around that time? Any specific recommendations as far as meeting single ladies around that time? I'd like to visit a hotel that is not so worn out or outdated... I read about the different places as far as night life goes and I just want to be a little close to everything, but mostly closer to whatever might be the best spot right now without sacrificing or making my stay less enjoyable by staying at an outdated AI. Basically, I don't want to be hustling around for a beach chair or bothered with people trying to sell me things. Get my drift?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

if you are going by yourself you would be not be smart by going to punta cana,,,save yourself money and go to Sosua and promise you will meet more ladies, my problem is finding a AI on the north coast since breezes is done and i want to stay close to sosua..

there is no one single ladies in sosua. what you found there in your visit were just prostitutes. there are many beautiful dominican women in puerto plata and Santiago, but they will never visit any club in Sosua. in case that you want to visit the North Coast, go to Playa Dorada.
Most people who havent visit punta cana has the wrong idea that PC is not for single. totally false. Punta Cana is the party town in DR.
Nice hotels with decent rate:
Majestic Elegance (the best hotel for the money)
Majestic Colonial
Bahia Principe
Ocean Blue
Melia CaribeTropical

Outdated, but with lot of singles
Barcelo Bavaro complex
Occidental Flamenco

Nice ambience and atmosphere (not for single)
Eden NH (one of the nicest resort with the worst food in PC)
I gave them a second try last week and it was a food disaster again. I dont really know what they are waiting for to fire the chef.

Right on Johnny... Thanks. I already went to Playa Dorada and had a blast and I can assure anyone here that even if you go with a girl to enjoy your stay you will have to avoid getting hit on by the ladies on a quick trip to the bar... LOL. :-) I just never been to PC and all I hear is good things about it here in NYC.

I will definitely choose among the choices you provided Johnny, since I also read great reviews about these AI's. Can you describe what's the atmosphere like around there for the 4th of July holiday in US? Is it slow? Lots of ppl? What do you say? I'm already getting excited. :-)

johnny thanks for the great info, im actually planning on going to playa dorada now and I'm not sure where the best place is for young singles and a great resort layout like breezes....any suggestions Johnny cuz i see you know alot of info...i was think ICD or Oasis but im sure you got good insight for what we are looking for...

get other people's opinions, obviously... but there's no way i'd recommend playa dorada. i only stayed there a couple times 7 or 8 years ago & i found it old and boring back then. but then, maybe it's because i'm old & boring

if you're back to seriously thinking north coast, reconsider viva wyndham tangerine in cabarete - advantages of an AI + advantages of having cool beach bars & discos and an actual town within walking distance. and no big puta scene to upset your girlfriends.

other option, rent a nice condo on the beach. beachfront within walking distance of town will cost you about $100-$120/bedroom per night depending on season. 3 bed/3 bath about $300-350 for example. depending on # of people you have, that can actually be about as cheap as an AI even after you figure in your alcohol & food/restaurant costs. and it's a bit more of a touch of something special if you're bringing your girlfriends

places like these for example are on the bay in cabarete & your per person cost might be lower than you think.

I agree with CFA123... Playa Dorada is a bit older... I just keep hearing and reading good things about PC. I hope my trip meets my expectations as far as nightlife and nice ppl at the hotel... Seriously considering those choices Johnny provided earlier. I don't want to be spending too much money in cab rides between Webster Hall, Mangu, Pacha, Areito, etc... Right now just trying to decide among Iberostar, Majestic, Bahia Principe, Ocean Blue, and Melia Caribe Tropical... Help guys!!! :-)
