Default Where are the signs in Punta Cana?

Why is it so hard to find resorts once you get to Punta Cana? I've driven there from Santo Domingo, and I have to say that signs are needed there badly.
Once I spent 1 hour and 30 minutes looking for a resort.
Has anyone else noticed this?

If you still need, locate an ORANGE Shop, which Punta Cana / Bavaro has about 10 locations, they have a great 8x5 resort map of the whole area with amazing detail!
I need to scan my copy and post it here!

Signage is not a Dominican strongpoint. When driving from POP to Santo Domingo, I used to get lost in Santiago all the time, because the only signs you see are when you are already on the wrong road and missed your turn!

The Orange map has been posted here in the past, if anyone wants to spend some time searching.

Put it down to the aural culture - Dominicans manage to get to their destinations by asking the way. Who needs signposts, street names or numbers when you can ask the tiguere on the corner?

and that way while driving around and asking for the right way you always have a reason to stop at a colmado, grab a cold one for the driver and ask forthe way.
that's usual when driving around here, lol.

I believe Orange do a very good job of keeping this map up to date with resort openings and name changes so any past posting would probably be out of date by now.

I, for one, would like to see a current incarnation.

If you ask for directions, FIRST, ask the person if they have a car and if they drive to the area you are asking about.

Yeaaaaah!!!!!! A cold President. I'm planning to head out to Punta Cana in July from Santo Domingo driving. This time I'll stay at a resort that I know very well, and I already know where it is.
So getting around shouldn't be a problem.
