Default El Seibo (Am in the right spot???)

Hola!
Can anyone give me any info on this town? El Seibo... and am I in the right area (East Coast)... Excuse my ignorance...
I will be in the DR for a couple of weeks in early July, and my brother-in-law has family out there, I may stop by and visit...
Is it a nice city? or a smaller town? nightlife? Any info would be nice...
Thanks!

I've been through El Seibo only once, but it looks as close to an authentic Dominican town as they can get....

There was traffic on that Sunday - mainly HORSES. All of the bars had more horses tied up out in front than there were cars. And the bars were BUSY, and the people looked happy. Not a tourist in sight..

Nice relaxed place to visit. PM Berzin (I think he has visited Ceibo) or do a search of the forums here.

El Ceibo is about an hour west of Higuey by guagua (two hours from the Punta Cana area). It's a nice town, I was there for a night out in May. There's at least one nightclub on the main strip. You should be able to find some nightlife if you visit.

Default My Best friend in DR lives in El Seibo

I have been there several time. (like 20)
Not to many tourists that's for sure.
Famous for Mabi (sugar cane juice drink) and a center for raising cattle my friend has 500 teras (sp) that he leases out for cattle graising.
Typical Dominican town, quite a few options to eat on main st. although it can become almost impassable in front of the clubs when they are busy.
Quite a dirty place though, a lot of Styrofoam cups etc all over the sides of the streets.
Winston has always talks about the bullfights but I have never been there when one was happening.
There is at least on "hotel" although I did stay there a few years ago it has not been open (renovations?) for the last 3-4 years.

Thanks for all the info...
One question--- hotels... ggparts- you mentioned that the "hotel" you knew of is closed. Any other "hotel" in the area you may know of?
I am assuming the "hotels" you are referring to what they call 'cabañas'...
Those 'cabañas' are a little scary... I stayed at one last year (don't ask!)and it was quite an experience... from the little bag with a condom, a combo, a couple of mints, and the half (yes, half) a bar of soap to the little "mailbox" for depositting your money... what a place....
But- I've gotten off subject...
Hotels in El Seibo-- anyone?

We stayed in a cabana in El Ceibo. It was on a side street off of the main street. It wasn't too bad. The room had the basics, a bed and TV and a small bathroom. There wasn't AC but there was a large ceiling fan. I think we paid $30 for the night.

Hello eveybody, I come from El Seibo, now living in San Pedro, its a tipical Dominican town, the nite life is better in weekends, one Disco, and some colmadon, that all you can find there.

About the fightbulls are in may, the first week we celebrate patronales in the name of Santisima Cruz, really a lot horses for that season, normally the fights are in weekends.

About the hotels its correct the info, and remember is El Seibo the correct form.
