punta cana atmosphere

My best friend from college and I (2 males, mid 20s) are planning a winter trip to the Dominican and we're trying to figure out the best place for us to go. We're looking for nice beaches, relaxing and an area that has a few bars or clubs, though partying isn't a top priority. Does this sound like Punta Cana or is there a different area you would recommend. Thanks!

PC suits fine for that.
choose a hotel/resort which is located central in the Bavaro area, so clubs and off site bars are nearby, even in walking distance.
some good examples would be
the 3 princess hotels(the Punta Cana Princess would be adults only)
the occidental grand flamenco
the palladium resort
the carabea beach resort & casino
barcelo dominican beach hotel

all located in the center,
they vary a lot by their rates and provided services, so check 'em out to see what fit's too your expectations
