Default Am Cham presidential candidate talks

Eduardo Estrella, the PRSC candidate, has a new electoral campaign spot where he openly blames President Hipolito Mejia for the economic woes of Dominican. It uses quite strong language. Estrella now joins the PLD in blaming the present administration for the mess we are in.

Yesterday we posted a link to the speech (sorry, it's in Spanish) of Leonel Fernandez at the American Chamber of Commerce. We had slipped up on posting the speech of Eduardo Estrella, the first of three to present their position at the important business forum. So here it goes. Next Wednesday, President Hipolito Mejia will speak at AmCham.

Default True To Form

Just as I predicted last week, Hipolito Mejia went to the AMCHAM lunch yesterday and read a script written for him by his "economic disaster team"
and as expected he is promising to do a lot of things that he has not done in the 4 years he has been wielding absolute power. He is promising, among other unlikely things, to raise the public sector's salaries by 30% (even though his disastrous policies have reduced Dominicans' income by 150%!!)
and even this minor plus for the people is undoable since everyone asks...where will he get the funds? His government is broke and even had to borrow fuel money to keep the power blackouts to a minimum prior to the May 16 elections. Get ready for plenty of blackouts after May 17th, win or lose!

A lot of empty words from a person who is everything except a man of his word. I just hope we can get rid of this guy in order to try to get back on the right path again.

Link to read Mejia's speech. We did not format it as the others because his time did not make a digital copy available to AmCham despite their request to this end. See http://www.presidencia.gov.do/Discur...80404/pag1.htm
