Default Mr. Almost Clean President Vs. Mr. Not Clean at All President

Our People, when it comes to politics are not that smart, in fact, I can even call them misinformed patriots. We have elected a known criminal once again to the throne. A man that rape the country of it's economy, when will DR learn. The PRSC candidate Eduardo Estrella seemd like the better of the three candidates, as for the other two candidates read this article http://www.coha.org/NEW_PRESS_RELEAS...anrepublic.htm, and share a response.
Questions to Ponder?
1) Will Leonel Fernandez actually change the country for good?
2) Did Mr.Mejia or Mr.Fernandez play a direct role in the bankruptcy of the 3 Dominican banks?
3) Will either president in the future be indicted on federal corruption charges?
4) Will democracy ever win in the Dominican Republic or should a new people's government be set in action?

Default Socialists should be ashamed of themselves

for continuing to support Hippo. Jeez, if Al Capone called himself a socialist, would the Council On Hemispheric Affairs support him too?

What's interesting about the article is that the author actually cites some specifically local incidents that ocurred in both governments, rather than just quoting from the PRD platform, which is what most ignorant foreign socialist commentators do in supporting the PRD. Of course, in keeping with COHA's AGENDA, they do not mention how Hippo, in order to buy the nation's elites, applied the great majority of Baninter bailout money - money which to poor now have to pay through "austerity" - to reimburse a handfull of the wealthiest families with US Million Dollar ++ bank accounts at Baninter's Cayman Islands branch.

Judging DR politicians by how much they steal is a hopeless starting point for any analysis in this country. Rather, you have to look at ability to govern, strenghthening of institutions, and at what trickles down in regard to economic development and infrastructure development. By not evaluating these factors (where the Fernandez administration was far superior), the Council on Hemispheric Affairs has shown itself to be an a*s and should go back to its main job of apologizing for Hugo Chavez.

1. I don't have a crystal ball, but if he goes down a similar road Mejia did, his party will suffer the consequences.

2. Mr. Mejia was responsible for the collapse of these banks since he is commander-in-chief of this nation. It was a planned policy of Andy D. and his partners in crime to take over Baninter assets and they achieved their objective by creating a "forced" bankruptcy of Baninter. These banks did not fail on their own, this government had a large role in that area. If these banks were doing anything illegal it should have been dealt with legally and not politically.

3. One would hope that if there is clear evidence anyone that has done wrong will be prosecuted by the judiciary system.

4. Democracy has won in the DR and this last election is proof. Democracy is far from perfect, but it is the best there is. There is no perfect government or magic solution, we need to strengthen our institutions and when that happens everything else will fall into place.

This pre-election PPH libelous document can only be taken seriously by the
ignorant of Dominican government realities.

President-elect Fernandez was, by far, the best qualified of the choices presented to the electorate and the decision was the correct one, thank GOD! He has a monumental task ahead of him and let's hope that he is successful for the DR people and all of us.

Now I don't know who you are but that article was written by writers for Mejia. I never read such cow dung in my life? He did good for the nations poor? They are in the ****house more than before. Now they cant even afford food on the table and have to be even more creative than before.

Never once did they say that Mejia stole money which is so bloody obvious it makes me laugh.

What 1 billion in Sovereign Bonds? Where is this money? This country is so corrupt you just have to laugh and keep your money where they cant get to it.

This article may be Frivolous to some but it was just an interesting article, the COHA has there reasons for publishing this article, it's quite intriguing how they compare these two candidates, Dominican politic insider and followers understand the article is Bias but it's a good read those that don't share my view, shouldn't throw stones in glass houses.

In that time and this, when President Mejia and his cabinet are being accused of many acts of corruption by the people, the COHA probably felt they should even out the political scene before the election by publishing the errors that President-elect Fernandez did, I forget in what forum It was posted that dominican don't elect presidents they vote for the who ever opposes a president they (people) don't like, Im speculating they wanted to bring out the positiveness of his term as president. It was an interesting article anyway, with or without there Bias opinion, but they also had some strong facts.
