American seeking temporary job in May

I live in Los Angeles and am planning on coming down to the DR for the month of May. I'd like to work while I'm there but I'm having trouble finding temporary jobs for just a month.

I know it's late notice but I'm an educated American female with journalism and teaching experience and speak some Italian. Any ideas.
