Well, it depends on your friend, if he is getting there with wife, children, etc. If he goes on his own it is avery reasonable salary that allows a moderatly decent lifestyle. Nonetheless, he should ask about other benefits such as insurance, medical service, pension funds, etc. An insurance policy is mandatory in Latin American countries. Public health service is not very good, and private medical expenses can get tough.
