I am moving to the Punta Cana area. I have a Canadian degree in social work. What kind of work could I get?

You might be able to work in the resort industry in Human Resources, You might need to research local labor laws.

Can you give me advice on how to explore this Human Resources option in the resort industry? Why would I want to research labour laws?

I don't think a Dominican company would hire a foreigner, who has not lived here, as Human Resources manager. You need to know the local culture, ethics, and laws for this option. Especially the laws, because so many workers now sue their former employers. Even when you pay liquidation they can sue you for false termination, mental anguish (if you accuse them of stealing for example), etc etc etc
