Default Full Time Tutoring Program “All Subjects” For Dominican Student?

I would like to help a family in Cabarete send their 20 year old daughter to school. Unfortunately like many young girls in the Dominican Republic she left school before starting High school to have a baby. I would like to know if there are any schools that have programs or full time tutoring that can help this situation. Recommendations of locations any where in the DR are highly appreciated.

Hi Grandma Jen:

Have you considered virtual high school? My daughter is doing grades 9/10 on virtual high school.com though it does cost....she can do it on her own sched and take as much time to finish as she needs to.

Also can you please email me at beabeliever@hotmail.com I have sent a couple PM's re What do you need? And have not gotten any response. Thanks
Deb

There are many official programs for students in similar situations. These programs include night schools, and weekend schools. Every major town has them. I suggest you check with The Education department provincial office (Puerto Plata?).

the secretaria de educacion sponsors a weekend program called PREPARA. the family would need to check with the local high school to see if the program is offered there -- and they'd probably be able to tell the family where if not there.

there's also the option to study at night as a lot of young 20somethings do to finish their degree. they can either sign up as regular student (attend classes everyday like normal, daytime students) or as "estudiantes libres" - free students, who study on their own and just go to take the tests.

the other is CENAPEC a private adult education program. costs 400 pesos a month, class on saturday (morning OR afternoon) or sunday. i know there is an office in PP but i think there are actually classes in Sosua.
