Default False tsunami rumour in Puerto Plata
In the early hours of Monday, residents of barrio Padre Granero, near Long Beach & those of Urbanizacion Atlantica, Puerto Plata, were seen leaving home with bundles of belongings, following a tsunami rumour. The sea had apparently disappeared! Turned out to be low tide. I live very near but have to admit to sleeping through this one!

Well there alot ignorant people in this country, these people is trying to scare the people. The same things happen in Chile.

Such rumors are hardly new to the DR. While I was living in SD a tsunami rumor started late one night in SPM, and within hours droves of people in SD were standing around in the Mirador park to wait out the tidal wave!

My mother-in-law tells of a similar panic in SD when she was young, also based solely on rumor.
