Let's discuss the relationship between the environment, the economy, and the government.

I'm very misinformed on the subject, so please excuse my ignorance.

Here are some questions for discussion:

Is ecotourism a lucrative business in D.R.? Or, has certain environmental protection measures been modified to accomodate developers of more 'expensive' projects?

Is there specific legislation to protect certain lands from development?
