My sincere congratulations to the Green Team! I diligently read the DR1 on a daily basis, whether here or in Canada and I will be reading all the Green news with interest. Canadian Bob. (Retired mining engineer/ consulting geologist)

Bob, glad you're a regular. As I mentioned in a post this morning, for those of you who are or want to be regulars, we (supposedly! I am testing it to be sure) have the capability to put names on an auto-email notification list so that you are advised every time a new blog entry goes up. Just PM me or send an email to greenteam@dr1.com saying you want to go on the list.

And Bob, given that you're a mining engineer and geologist, any chance you'd want to guest blog for us sometime on related issue that concerns you? There's alot of issues in your field that interest us. Think it over.

Warm Regards,
Keith

P.S. Bob, did you pin your Canadian flag on the guestmap yet?

Keith, exploring other career options? I like your cartoon, especially like the message on the license plate.

Never let it be said that the Green Team does not respond to feedback!

"Knocking on City Hall's Door"

http://www.dr1.com/blogs/?u=environment

The list provided of municipal environment authorities in the DR has some limitations. For example, we as yet do not have listings for municipalities in the provinces of Baoruco, Dajabon, El Seibo, Independencia, La Altagracia, La Estrelleta, Maria Trinidad Sánchez, Monte Cristi, Salcedo, San Juan, Sanchez Ramirez, Santiago Rodriguez and Valverde. This means we are missing important spots such as Cabrera, Higuey, Mao or Nagua.

Also missing are some key municipalities in the provinces covered on the list, such as San Cristobal and Santo Domingo Norte.

If you have information on additional municipalities, or if you find changes or errors in the information provided here, please let us know at greenteam@dr1.com. We'd like to keep this list as complete and up-to-date as possible.

Regards,
Keith

On Friday in the Diario Libre appeared a full page ad with a picture of an industry polluting the sky, with a small message at the bottom:
PIENSA
Un mensaje de la policia Ambiental y Diario Libre. Para denuncias sobre el Medio Ambiente llame al: 809-472-7707 desde el interior sin cargos 1-809-200-2707.

Interesting! Any way someone can get to me an electronic version of that? I'll have to see if either the SNPA or Diario Libre can give me permiso to use the image in the blog.

This underlines the point in my piece about the Police that they are serious about getting the public involved.

Thanks, Juanita!

Chiri has agreed to kick off our examination of the potential composting represents for the DR by reprising her popular piece on composting with worms:

A housekeeping note: Rob assures me that the automatic email notification feature is functioning as of this morning, so those of you who have notified me of your desire to be put on the list, you finally should begin receiving email notices with the next post to the blog! Thanks for your patience as we worked out the technical glich.
